Behind the Screens: Where AI Really Changes the Show
I’m sure you have written an email using ChatGPT.
Useful? Sure. Revolutionary? Just a little.
The real impact of AI is happening behind the screens. It is starting to change how companies work, how products behave, and how people make decisions. And this is not through one spectacular feature, but by quietly taking work off our hands, speeding up processes, and helping us get from an idea to a result much faster.
In this keynote, Gill Cleeren looks beyond the usual chatbot demos and the growing number of products that suddenly seem to have “AI” printed on the box.
Using examples from software, business, and his own experience organising Techorama, Belgium’s largest developer conference, he shows where AI already saves serious time, where it still gets things spectacularly wrong, and what happens when it moves from answering questions to actually taking action.
What should we hand over to AI? Where do we still need a human in control? And perhaps most importantly, how do we tell the difference between real value and a familiar product with a shiny new AI sticker?
Expect an accessible and entertaining look at what AI really is, what it can already do, and why its biggest impact may not happen on stage.
It may happen behind the screens.

About Gill Cleeren
Gill Cleeren is CTO at Xebia Microsoft Services Belgium, Microsoft Regional Director, MVP, author, and international speaker.
For more than 20 years, he has helped companies understand and use new technology without getting lost in the hype. Today, much of his work focuses on AI, software architecture, and how organisations can turn emerging technology into something that creates real value.
Gill is also the founder and organiser of Techorama, one of Europe’s leading technology conferences. That gives him a perspective from both sides of the stage: explaining technology to audiences while also dealing with everything that happens behind the scenes to make a large event work.
Known for his practical style, clear explanations, and occasional lack of patience for marketing fluff, Gill makes complex technology accessible, relevant, and entertaining.
